Windows 8 Exceeds Benchmark Expectations

Windows 8 meets and exceeds expectations despite what critics have to say. However, it's imperative to remember that Windows 8's performance will vary from PC to PC.

Using a Dell XPS desktop integrated with 3.2GHz Core i7 processor, a performance benchmark test was conducted by experts at CNET. The benchmark experiment compared the overall performance of Windows 8 against Windows 7 which was touted in the past as Microsoft's best operating system. These benchmark tests were conducted on various windows operations including windows boot time, shutdown time, and MS office load times.

Windows 8 booted on startup 45% faster than its predecessor; this has been a significant improvement since windows 7. Moreover, this enhancement is certainly one of the determining factors for consumers, as speed becomes more of a deciding factor. However, no significant difference was noticed during shutdown, as it took roughly the same time for both Windows operating systems to shutdown. According to CNET experts, the tests came out extremely close because the hardware on the machines wasn't optimized to be used on Windows 8 platform.
Had the hardware been configured for Windows 8, the tests results would have been more momentous. So there you have it, according to CNET, Windows 8 has demonstrated itself as the better performing operating system. However, the final verdict on Windows 8 will be in the hands of consumers, only they can decide whether Windows 8 is worth the entire buzz.

According to data security analyst Jonathan Ladd, it's no surprise that Windows 8 is a winner in the field of looks and performance; many users have downloaded the consumer preview of Windows 8 and have experienced the difference between Windows 7 and Windows 8. However, a common complaint with Windows 8 is its ability not to work with third-party data security software.
