Music industry professionals flock to site to hear the latest hits
Before RadioSubmit.com changed the way new music reaches radio stations, playlist directors and DJs listened to dozens, even hundreds of submissions per week searching for what they needed. On the flip side, musical artists spent hundreds, even thousands of dollars putting together and mailing submission packages to the stations, with little chance of getting airplay unless backed by a promotions company.
It was a costly and time-consuming process on both ends until May 1, 2005, when Radio Submit went live on the Internet and changed everything. Now radio stations hit the website when looking for new music, taking advantage of Radio Submit's searchable database of thousands of artists covering every music genre. Artists who want to reach radio audiences simply create a profile page and upload high-quality copies of their songs.
Says Larry Timko of Clear Channel Worldwide, Radio Submit is "Awesome! Sometimes it takes weeks for record labels to send me new music, and now, thanks to RadioSubmit.com, I can access new material right away."
"Radio Submit has saved me and the artists I represent thousands of dollars in mail-out costs," says Bryon Tosoff of Voodoohead Productions. "...Radio Submit is certainly helping to level the playing field in the music industry for the Indies."
Artists large and small are being discovered on Radio Submit. Before signing with Blues Boulevard Records, Mark Robinson submitted songs to Radio Submit and caught the attention of President Alfie Falckenbach, leading to a record deal.
Or take the story of Camryn Wessner. The young Florida-based songwriter's tune "Polaroid" reached #2 on the Official European Indie Charts, but first it was discovered on Radio Submit by Christopher Marcy, label manager for ALIEN PROD in France. Marcy gave "Polaroid" heavy airplay on NETRADIO, which caught the attention of radio stations all over Europe. Now Wessner is working with super producers Stan Lynch and Billy Chapin.
Radio Submit works with around 15,000 radio stations worldwide, with roughly equal representation by commercial radio, college radio, Internet radio, and non-commercial radio.
In keeping with the times, Radio Submit has branched off and created a YouTube channel and a very active Facebook page. Says Shane Cody of Radio Submit, "YouTube and Facebook are a natural fit for Radio Submit. We are able to help independent artists get noticed much more effectively than they can on their own. Even though we are not a promotion company, we still need to be able to promote the fact that artists are using Radio Submit as a way of making their music available."
Radio Submit makes it easy for artists and entertainers to reach the attention not only of radio stations but also record and production companies. Adding a Radio Submit link to artists' websites and social media pages gives interested parties the ability to hear the artists' music and see their profiles in a matter of seconds.
Artists new to Radio Submit can take advantage of two promotions going on right now. Use code 5PRGRIT12 to receive 5% off any of their listed prices. "Like" their Facebook page and receive another 5% off by using promo code 5FBGRIT12.
