(prHWY.com) October 1, 2012 - Mississauga, Canada -- SEO forums and groups can be very confusing to a person with very little experience in search engine optimization techniques. That is why you do not see me posting links to outside groups and resources very often. When I first started studying SEO, I figured ANYONE in these groups knew more than I did, and they ALL sounded like experts to me.

Without a good understanding of search engine optimization it can be darn near impossible to decide if the information you are reading is reliable or even ethical.

I drove myself completely crazy with all the conflicting advice and made some serious SEO errors because I did not yet have enough quality information to base decisions on.

No one warned me about the dangers of SEO forums.

This is the exact reason that I began teaching a free SEO training class. I was watching people ask for help in forums, and often the answers they received from well-meaning people, were way off base. Unfortunately, many mistakes were made.

You may be familiar with the quotation "Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen Spoil the Broth". This is also true when it comes to learning the basics of SEO techniques.

Find a program that makes sense to you and work that program to it's fullest. When you start adding too many ingredients, from a variety of recipes, you start not having a clue on what the results will be, or what to base the results on.

EXPERIENCED cooks can mix and match and add ingredients when creating a recipe, but it is BECAUSE OF THAT EXPERIENCE that they can get away with it. They have an idea of what the results will be when they add a specific ingredient.

Am I telling you NOT to keep learning from all types of sources? Of course not!

But when you are new, if your top priority is to get your business off the ground and get your site doing well in the search engines, limiting your sources may be wise.

I am definitely not saying there are no decent SEO forums available. I personally know of several excellent forums. I am simply advising you to learn the basics inside out and backwards before venturing out too far.
