Apple has finally announced iPhone 5 this week in the wake of a tremendous pre launch buzz. It remains to be seen whether it will be able to compete with the likes of Samsung S3 and HTC One X.
(prHWY.com) September 17, 2012 - Hicksville, NY -- Apple announced their iPhone 5 on Wednesday at their special media event in California. Many people were expecting something revolutionary, just like in 2007, when they had launched their first iPhone. If the early word in the market is to be believed then most of the people expecting something totally out of the box will be hugely disappointed.
There is no doubt that apple has improved iPhone 5 but the level of innovation expected from such a company is far beyond this level. Looking at the hardware, the screen size has been increased to 4 inches and it is a 20% lighter iPhone compared to its successors. It is thinner and the processor and graphics are 2 times better. Still if one compares them with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, it falls behind on many levels. Earphone design has been revamped and now they are called EarPods. The camera and the screen also got a face-lift. The camera is now able to shoot better pictures in low light conditions though it remains the same 8 MP camera. Apple has removed one layer from the screen and now the display is much better in sun light as well as in regular lighting. iPhone 5 has 4G LTE that supports even faster data transfer speeds. This is already present in some of their rival phones and Apple has finally brought it to iPhone 5
Another talking point is the introduction of iOS 6. Apple has removed Google Maps and replaced it with their own map system. Siri has also become much more intelligent and responsive and it has been integrated with the navigation system.
"Apple has balanced it out pretty well in terms of providing support for old and new apps. Old apps will run on iPhone 5 as they used to run on previous devices plus with a vertically stretched screen, it will allow mobile app developers to display more information on a single page so the interactions are more efficient with the new apps." Says Mr. Jayneel, Managing Director at OpenXcell Technolabs.
It remains to be seen whether Apple has done enough in terms of innovation with the iPhone 5 to retain the top spot in the mobile handset market.
