CAT 2012@ Give your best shot in last 25 days, advises CAT 2012 convenor
MBAUniverse.com talked to Prof. SSS Kumar, convenor of CAT 2012, to know the current scenario, preparation levels for the exam and his suggestions for test takers.
(prHWY.com) September 17, 2012 - Noida, India -- With a few days remaining for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2012 registration and nearly 25 days left for the D-day, CAT convener Prof SSS Kumar has advised test takers to work hard as "there is no short cut to success."
Talking to MBAUniverse.com, Prof Kumar suggested IIM aspirants to give their best shot during the days left for the CAT 2012 which is scheduled to begin on October 11.

"Keep no stone unturned in your preparation. Give your best shot. There is no shortcut to success. Hard work and diligence will always be rewarded," he said, adding, a careful analysis of one's strengths and weaknesses is very important to prepare the best strategy for CAT. Prof Kumar, however, said all the sections in CAT are equally important as the test aims to evaluate candidates across areas of knowledge.

The CAT 2012 will be held in a 21-day test window -- from October 11 to November 6, 2012. The registration ends on September 19 and the last date of voucher sale is September 17.

While advising aspirants that "there is no short cut to success", Prof Kumar said the same is true for the CAT organizers as well and they are making every efforts to conduct a glitch-free test. "While MBA aspirants need to work hard for the CAT exam, it is not a cakewalk for the organizers as well. It takes a lot to conduct a glitch-free exam where around 2 lakh aspirants are taking part."

According to him, with the computer-based CAT stepping in the fourth year, the expectation is high from stakeholders. While the first computer-based CAT in 2009, conducted by IIM Ahmedabad, witnessed massive technical snag, CAT 2010 was a smooth affair under IIM Lucknow. Apart from a few stray incidents of technical glitches, no major snags were reported. Taking the lessons, IIM Calcutta, which conducted CAT 2011, also produced a successful show. The pattern of the test changed a lot in 2011.

Prof Kumar said there are certain protocols which are being followed in letter and spirit. "Now that there is less than a month left for CAT 2012 to begin, we are following the protocols to present a glitch-free exam."

As taking CAT is one of the most crucial moments of life for most of the MBA aspirants, organizers are making the best efforts to live up to their expectation of a smooth test.

Prof Kumar said, "Our aim is to carry on the success story of the computer-based CAT with absolutely no traces of any technical glitch. Prometric has been our partner in administering CAT and its role is well known. I am sure it will meet our expectations."
