Global Essence emerging as leader in North America in distributing synthetic mint and menthol products
Global Essence will be marketing and selling synthetic (nature-identical) menthol or mint in North American produced from a new production plant by BASF which is commencing production this summer
(prHWY.com) July 20, 2012 - Newark, NJ -- On the heels of its recent distribution agreement that was signed on June 12, 2012 with BASF Aroma Chemicals Business Unit to penetrate and service small to mid-market customers of "L-menthol" products in North America (http://www.perfumerflavorist.com/networking/news/company/159238475.html), Global Essence now has the benefit of BASF putting into operation the world's largest production plant for nature-identical (synthetic) menthol this summer (http://www.foodnavigator.com/Financial-Industry/BASF-to-start-supplying-mint-flavour-L-Menthol).

L-Menthol is an aroma chemical that can be used in any food application where a fresh mint flavor is needed, particularly in products such as chewing gum and confectionery mints. L-Menthol or pure menthol had been typically obtained from corn mint and peppermint; however, natural or plant-based production has significant drawbacks such as poor harvest yields and inconsistent product quality which can vary depending on climatic conditions, thus resulting in shortages of peppermint and corn mint.

As a result of this completely synthetic or natural identical production process of L-Menthol by BASF, Global Essence now will be able to provide customers in North America with a superior and competitively priced nature-identical mint flavor product that will be of consistently good quality with reliable production volumes.
