Muscles have living cells and as such they require oxygen and food for effective functioning. They are generally important in the functioning of the body since a combination of these muscles is needed for one activity to be performed. The human body has 3 different muscles namely skeletal, smooth and cardiac.

The skeletal muscles are attached to the skeleton and are known to function in pairs. They are responsible for the movements we make in a particular direction. After moving the muscle then goes back to its original position.
