(prHWY.com) June 7, 2012 - Hartlepool, United Kingdom -- There is no clear-cut answer to the correct length of a resume. Every individual job seeker has a different situation and their requirements can vary. Also some backgrounds are more extensive and varied than others.

If you run a Google search on the internet, you will see that there are various myths going around pertaining to the correct length of a resume. While the subject is very important to cover because of all the different approaches you must take based on your target industry and background, the truth is that there is no special rule when it comes to the length of a resume .

Mr. Mark Monroe of www.cvconsultants.co.uk, a leading CV consultant website in UK shared his views on the subject, "The first rule of the thumb when it comes to a resume is that you keep the information on it concise and straight to the point. What you have to understand is that there will be a discernible difference between a resume of an experienced professional and entry-level college graduate. Every industry and employer calls for varied amounts of information on a resume, therefore that should be the objective you should pay attention and not to a specific length." he said.

There are two myths that job applicants fall for when writing their resume: Either their resume should be less than a page or more than two pages. Mr. Monroe threw light on this issue by stating, "While these two factors are not exactly true, they do hold some truth- especially the shorter and more concise resumes. Resumes do get scanned by hiring managers, often for no more than 10-20 seconds to decide if the applicant is suitable for their requirements. Having a summary of your qualifications with the keywords and phrases based on your career and job objective can prove to be very beneficial." Mr. Monroe concluded by saying, "If your resume passes the first inspection, then it will get further examination to make sure that you fit their job requirements. Here, having relevant and in-depth information is ideal since your skills and experiences will be comprehensively assessed."
