Most people find it a guilty pleasure as spending time on Facebook is wasting time. They are on Facebook more than considered to be. This fact again comes to prove that people view Facebook both as a means and communication, where they can chat with friends, and just enjoy their time. And secondly they use it to promote their business and to benefit from it.
