It has formally announced its upcoming Creative Cloud service, along with Adobe Creative Suite 6. But CS products aren't cheap, so Adobe must periodically add something new to keep people coming back. This time around, Adobe is adapting CS6 for more advanced Web design and publishing on mobile devices, and it's got a major new way to buy the products for $50 a month, the new subscription plan called Creative Cloud. For CS3, CS4, and CS5.x customers, Adobe is offering an introductory offer of $30 per month.

"Wherever and whenever inspiration strikes, Adobe will be there to help capture, refine and publish your ideas." The new CS6 release features Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe InDesign CS6, Adobe Illustrator CS6, Adobe Dreamweaver CS6, Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, Adobe After Effects CS6, Adobe Flash Professional CS6 and more. Adobe Creative Cloud integrates Adobe's line of creative touch tools with CS6 desktop applications. Adobe Touch Apps bring professional-level creativity to tablet devices and address multiple areas of the creative process: image editing, ideation, sketching, mood board creation, website and mobile app prototyping, and the presentation of finished work. Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas are already available on the iPad and Android tablets: Adobe Collage, Adobe Debut and Adobe Proto.
The new version will thrill nearly all categories of users, from photographers to designers. Sure, it isn't cheap, but Photoshop remains the ultimate image editor of choice, and it's refreshing to see the makers of such a successful program not sitting on their laurels, but instead continuing to make impressive advances in their art. The all-encompassing Master Collection CS6 costs $2,599 new and $549 to upgrade; the more basic Design Standard costs $1,299/$299; and the Production Premium and the newly consolidated Design and Web Premium options each cost $1,899/$399.
