Comfort Keepers White Rock-SWANS Rocked Canada!
(prHWY.com) March 14, 2012 - BC, Canada -- The Comfort Keepers sponsored Swan, a two-hour power-packed information session by a panel of five female experts, was successfully held in Canada at the Semiahmoo Library Meeting Room at 152nd Street, 18th Avenue, South Surrey, BC. Proceeds derived ($350) went towards the White Rock / South Surrey Hospice Society.

According to Director of Operations, Janet JD, they successfully addressed the information and resources need of the large turnout of Boomer Females in attendance and ensured their own affairs (or that of an aging parent's) will be properly looked after with the least amount of stress to family.

The presentation, which addressed the need of today's female boomers, successfully dealt with issues that arise when persons find themselves stretched between dealing with aging parents and their own affairs, and in some cases, that of rearing one's own offspring.

The five key areas addressed focused on the SWANS acronym:
1. Smart-sizing our home and environment
2. Wills and POAs done legally and properly
3. Articulating a crisis management plan (before the crisis)
4. Neutralizing debt and credit/interest payments and - last but not least
5. Stabilizing our family's future with appropriate insurances.

Delivered in a sensitive, yet light-hearted fashion to motivate and empower the participant into an effective action plan to stimulate the conversation that every family needs to have, The SWANS presenters made certain everyone knows what to do if and when a crisis happens.

The event, emceed with skill and gusto by the affable Sandy VanDeKinder, Area Governor of Early Edition Toastmasters, introduced each of the five-female paneled experts who delivered their topic command and authority.

They were:
1. Laura Thibeault, a well-respected realtor, talked about the logistical and emotional aspects of when and why to sell and how to optimize the sale of one's home.
2. Amar Kler, Notary Public, imparted invaluable information regarding proper legal instruments to manage our well-being in the event we become unable to do so for ourselves.
3. Janet JD, Manager of Comfort Keepers® White Rock, provided a plethora of resources to assist each participant to create an I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency) plan and packet for families.
4. Shari Merritt, an accredited mortgage professional, opened our eyes to the pitfalls of credit and how to get on top of your debt, as opposed to the opposite.
5. Ainslie Winter, a well-educated financial planner, enlightened us to the different types of insurance that could reduce financial stress in the event of unexpected health issues.

"Too many people wait for a crisis to happen and then family is left to scramble to manage their affairs - very stressful on all concerned," said Janet JD, who stressed the need for person to be in control when a crisis strikes.

"If a person has no plan in place, decisions about their well-being can be turned over to strangers," she added. "Therefore, planning ahead of a crisis can be like walking through a labyrinth, well not unless you have a map and a guide to take you along the journey. And I want people to think of SWANS as their compass."

"The thing I am glad about is that attendees were able to walk away with invaluable information and resources that will help them create an action plan to given their entire family a sense of peace of mind," added Janet JD.

Twenty seven women participated in the event, which also included healthy refreshments and concluded in a draw for a huge gift basket containing a contribution from each presenter. There was also a draw for two gift certificates, one from Sandy VanDeKinder for dog training, the other from Susie Brown for Silpada Jewellery. Participant ratings and comments were collected as the 27 women exited with a bag bursting with information and resources and a goodie bag with a special token from each of the presenters.
