Golden Chariot, India's first and only south Indian luxury train has reached the all time high in terms of occupancy rate since four years of its inception.
(prHWY.com) February 28, 2012 - New Delhi, India -- Look like Golden Chariot is ruling the roost in terms of occupancy these days. After four years of its inception, Golden Chariot has touched the highest occupancy rate of 42% for the first time and is expected to reach 45% in the next few rides. Commenting on the improved performance of the train, Project Director Mr. Srinivas said ''This year the occupancy rate has increased to 42% which is the all-time high since its launch. We are expecting 45% passenger traffic by the end of this season.'' Last year, Golden Chariot has gone through many adversities due to the cancellation of few trips and the problems related to the payment of haulage charges. But this upsurge in the occupancy rate has given a huge fillip to the Karnataka State tourism and Development Corporation, the operators of the Golden Chariot.
The luxury trains in India attract huge number of foreign tourists from countries such as U.S.A, Switzerland, England, Brazil, Austria and Australia. Palace on Wheels gets the largest chunk of this pie hence the state tourism department has cut down the prices up to 20% in order to maintain the high occupancy level of the Golden Chariot. ''In a bid to attract domestic tourists too, we have given 20% discounts," Said Srinivas.
The Golden Chariot train with its two itineraries - Pride of the South and Splendor of the South - takes guests on a luxurious expedition several destinations in South India. The 8 days and 7 nights journey on board offers a dash of wildlife, forts, palaces, ancient temples, World Heritage Sites and natural beauty. Besides these two journeys, state of the art amenities, red carpet welcome and gracious hospitality waits to enthrall and pamper the guests all through the journey. There is a 15 days itinerary as well which combines both the journeys with an option of hopping in at any destination and hopping out after three consecutive days of the journey on board.
