Findings by retailer TK Maxx show that men are useless when it comes to noticing changes in their house.
In a study of over 2,000 female respondents it was revealed that women had changed everything from the wallpaper, curtains and even moved the furniture around without their other half even realising.
The research found that a third of females had hung up new pictures and framed photos without their spouse observing and that one in 10 women had even painted a room without any detection.
Men reportedly miss more than half of the variations in the home every year and that two thirds of women have to point out the changes.
The poll also revealed that 10% of women thought their partner noticed but just didn't care about how the house looked; whilst 40% confessed that they never bother asking before making changes to the home or buying new furniture or furnishings because it was 'pointless.'
The top things that most men are likely to be miss include new cushions and bedspread, pictures and candles, photo frames and plants, changes to the garden and lampshades, as well as new curtains and moving furniture around.
In comparison the survey revealed that most women said that their mum always noticed any changes immediately and that friends always picked up on alterations to colour schemes or different cushions.
Furthermore it was found that the average female spends £629.20 on their home each year.
