This unique concept was launched recently under the brand name Dr. C by Nexgen Wellness Pvt Ltd.
The concept behind Dr. C is 'time share' wherein under-utilised medical equipment at private hospitals will be used to serve people at prices much less than the existing rates.
For instance, according to officials of Dr. C, the present average price of an MRI for a single body part here is Rs. 6,000. The Dr. C diagnostic services will be able to offer the same MRI for Rs. 2,400. Similarly, the company is offering Rs. 1,000 for brain CT scan while the average market rate for the same is Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 5,000 for cardiac CT while the existing market rate is Rs. 9,000.
How is this possible? "Time sharing makes it possible. It is like flight tickets. They are valuable till the flight is on the ground. Once the flight takes off, the tickets are worthless.
Similarly, there are hi-tech diagnostic machines that lie idle at some point of the day. Our patients will be able to use them at that time at a lower price," explains director, Dr. C, C. Neehar Reddy.
