(prHWY.com) February 16, 2012 - Cedar Park, TX -- For over 20 years, Martin Dunaway has worked in grocery stores. He started his career in the industry when he was only 16, and since that time, he's moved up and up the corporate ladder, managing larger and more difficult stores. Recently, his hard work and knowledge paid off and he was provided with the Store Manager of the Year Award.
"It was incredibly gratifying for me to win this award," says Martin Dunaway. "I have always prided myself on working hard and doing my very best, each and every day. Most of the time, these sorts of commitments go a bit unnoticed. After all, if I'm doing my job properly, no one really knows I'm there. They just know that they're having a great shopping experience. As a result, I rarely get thanked or publicly acknowledged, and to be honest, I don't really seek out that kind of attention anyway. But, it's still nice to be recognized for the hard work I do, and I'm thankful for this award and the public praise that comes with it."
Martin Dunaway was recognized, in part, for his ability to transform underperforming stores into thriving, bustling centers of activity. The process is long, and it involves a significant amount of research, but Martin Dunaway claims to enjoy the work.
"I'm the sort of person who really likes a tough challenge," says Martin Dunaway. "Turning a failing store around definitely falls into that category. Often, I spend months on research before I even begin to pull together a plan, and then it can take months to see results. It's stressful, to be sure, but I love to see the plans come together and watch the store build up a loyal following."
This is not the first time Martin Dunaway has won the Store Manager of the Year Award. In fact, he's won the award one other time. He hopes to continue his excellent performance and stay eligible to win the award again in the future.
"I'm not a power-hungry guy, but I am definitely competitive," says Martin Dunaway. "I like being the best at what I do. Working toward an award like this gives me great motivation to do even more and get even better at my job in the coming years. I like to win!"
