After years of puzzling over, how every shelf is always so filled with essential items, fans are now being treated to the real answer of how those shelves stayed stocked - with the help of online inventory management software.
"We have established a routine that uses online inventory management software to help keep all the shelves so nicely stocked", said one of the executive producers of a reality cooking show. The executive producer wished to remain anonymous. "The system is state of the art and really complex, but it helps."
Fans are being treated with a rare look at this type of
inventory management system and how it works. Never before has this system been revealed to the public and it is rather inspiring.
"What fans don't see at home is that there are these sensors located on the shelf", said the executive producer. "These sensors are programmed to note what item is removed from the shelf. Once removed it is reflected in the online inventory management software program. That helps us know what needs to be replaced."
After each taping of the reality cooking show, assistants will use the online inventory management software to help restock the shelves. Assistants are trained to make sure that every shelf has the same amount of items for every show.
"We need a clean, uniform look that people will recognize", said the executive producer. "It also helps to create a fair playing field. Every contestant on the show has access to the same items. So it isn't unfair to anyone."
Reality cooking shows have grown in popularity over the past several years. The recent increase in popularity of the show has led to people speculating how the show stocks its shelves.
"We never thought people would be that interested in how we stocked our shelves", said the executive producer. "We were so surprised that we kept getting that question in fan mail. That is why we finally thought that we would reveal how it was done. We never really thought people cared."
