Gold slumped to a seven-month low Wednesday, extending its earlier losses as details from the Federal Reserve's latest policy meeting outlined more debate about when to curtail the central bank's stimulus program. Gold for April delivery, the most actively traded contract, recently traded down $41.40, or 2.6%, to $1,562.80 a troy ounce in post-settlement electronic trading on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold had ended its regular session on Wednesday down $26.20, or 1.6%, at $1,578 a troy ounce, the lowest since July 12.Some Federal Reserve officials expressed concerns about the central bank's easy-money policies at their January gathering, minutes from the gathering released Wednesday showed. Some officials worried that the policies could lead to instability in financial markets, and the Fed plans to evaluate how its programs are doing at its March meeting.
