(prHWY.com) January 16, 2013 - Vancouver, Canada -- Everybody wants to have beautiful, healthy, and young-looking skin. It seems that healthy skin is the ultimate secret to looking younger even in a person's twilight years. Our generation is lucky that there are so many commercial products in the market that help us achieve this. There's even the option of getting plastic surgery for more serious situations. However, there's still something to be said about having beautiful skin naturally, as opposed to achieving it through artificial and surgical procedures.
It is possible to keep your skin looking fresh, young, and healthy without lathering on tons of artificial products. You may even find a skin centre or two that promotes the use of all-natural products. Home skin care techniques are also excellent and cannot be easily dismissed. People have been using them for decades, after all.
Exfoliation
Exfoliation or microdermabrasion is the removal of dead skin cells on the topmost layer of the skin, giving way for younger, healthier skin. There are plenty of products on the market for this, but instead of buying them you can just do the good old skin scrubbing. Smooth pumice from a river or lake will do nicely for this. You can also just buy a loofah or use a hand towel to scrub the dirt and dead skin cells off your body.
Moisturizing
If dry skin is your main problem, your number one cure for that would be to drink lots of water and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A, E, C, and D. You can also pamper your skin with the following homemade concoctions:
-Facial paste made out of honey, lemon juice, and a teaspoon of walnut powder
-Mashed ripe banana mixed with milk
-Honey and almond oil mixture
-Honey and lemon juice mixture (this mixture also works well as a natural skin toner)
-Mashed fresh papaya
Diet and Lifestyle
What you eat and what you do everyday are integral parts of natural skin care. How healthy--or not--your diet is can be determined by how healthy and vibrant your skin looks, while your daily activities have a direct impact on the appearance of your skin. Both will inevitably leave very visible effects on your overall appearance too, not just on your skin. It goes without saying that if you want to maintain naturally young-looking skin, you need to do away with habits and vices that can quickly age your skin.
Smoking will make your skin look dull and lifeless while drinking too much alcohol will turn your skin mottled and red. Outdoor sports, while healthy recreational activities by themselves, will burn your skin if you neglect to put on sunblock with high SPF, wear rash guards or caps whenever possible, or choose to stay exposed under the sun for hours on end. Keep in mind that the sun's rays are more dangerous between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. If your preferred sport can be played indoors, that would be a better option as far as your skin's health is concerned.
