Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has recently announced the launch of a new initiative that involves the distribution of free life jackets to the fishing community, as part of the Authority's efforts to raise greater awareness about the importance of wearing life jackets while on water. It is also part of DMCA's broader efforts to ensure the maximum safety of everyone using the waterways, including for water sports, in line with the latest international safety standards.

DMCA is laying down the latest regulations to avoid any potential risks in water and support the ongoing efforts to reduce maritime accidents and safeguard people's lives, thus promoting Dubai as the ideal destination for water sports and marine activities.
Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: "The new initiative complements DMCA's commitment to maintain the highest standards of security and personal safety. Developing a modern and safe maritime sector in Dubai can be achieved through the several effective initiatives that are being launched which reflects the vision of DMCA.
Major General Mohammad Al Marri, Chairman of Dubai Fishermen's Cooperative Association, a DMCA initiative, said, "Dubai is known for its open coastline to enjoy all kinds of water sports, and fishing - one of Dubai's genuine maritime activities since centuries. To ensure more safety while fishing, we believe that the DMCA initiative is the best way as it not only reaffirms the Authority's goodwill, but also reflects the ongoing progress to provide the best for the Emirate of Dubai."
