Chicago, IL (prHWY.com) December 21, 2012 - Chicago, IL, US, December 21, 2012 -- Get the interview. Then get the job. Sounds simple but there are some key phrases employers are looking from potential employees when going through the interview process. Most times, it's not what someone says, but how they say it.

"It's not always the most qualified person who gets hired, but the person who interviews best, says Tameka Washington, editor and communications consultant for IWC.

"There are things one can say to get a leg up during the interviewing stage."

What can the job seeker do for the company. Employers look for ways to screen people out. So a person should emphasize what they can do for them. Job seekers tend to highlight education and experience. But he or she must make it mesh with explaining how that will help the employer's bottom line.

What is the job seeker working on... Continue to develop additional skills or enhance the skills one already has. That not only tells an employer that the job seeker is self-reflective, and even moreso honest and knowing their value in skill set and experience.

Ask what role will the job seeker play in this year's annual conference?" This shows that he or she has done some research to know what's going on with the company. In addition, by askng 'what role will I play,' the job seeker is placing themselves in the position. The employer may take interest in their forward thinking.

"A person really only has two or three minutes to pique the interest employer during the interview," says Washington, who helps business leaders develop and deliver communication materials. "So standing out and getting straight to the point is a must."
