Cool Gadgets Sellers Squeezed By Lack Of Supply / Innovation In China Manufacturing

The recession has hit the manufacturers of cool gadgets pretty hard, especially with labor disputes rumbling all across China.

Hong Kong, Hong Kong (prHWY.com) December 5, 2012 - Shenzhen - Two factors are greatly affecting the production and release of cool gadgets the weak global economy and rising manufacturing costs in China.

The weak global economy means that demand for consumer products has weakened as well. Many avid consumers looking for cool stuff to buy simply don't have the money to spend anymore, and this lack of demand sends shockwaves all across the world.

At the same time, wage inflation and demographic shifts in China have forced manufacturers to take more conservative measures. China's workers - especially those located in the manufacturing province of Dongguan - are demanding higher salaries and better working conditions.

But cool gadgets have not completely been wiped out yet, as Rose Li of online wholesaling leader Chinavasion explains.

"We've been seeing less choices, fewer new products from existing suppliers, thanks to the changes across the globe and here in China. But we here at Chinavasion have entrenched ourselves well enough to continue releasing new and cool gizmos for anyone and everyone."

And Li isn't kidding about Chinavasion being well entrenched.

Established wholesalers like Chinavasion continue to get a lot of international business. Cool gizmos don't sell as strong as they used to in developed countries, but demand is still there. This is especially true when consumers see the low price tag on products being retailed at wholesale prices.

Migrant workers and overseas contract workers in these areas contribute to higher consumption as well. They either snap up cool gadgets to send home as cool gifts or send the money to their families so that they end up buying the goods.

Whatever the case may be, it looks like wholesalers like Chinavasion will be the ones picking up the slack that traditional retailers have left. After all, cool gadgets are more attractive as cool presents when people can buy them at wholesale instead of retail prices.
