Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) November 19, 2012 - Fleet Management Software to Be Used by Hunting Enthusiasts

Fleet management systems are often reserved for use by companies that have multiple vehicles or an entire delivery system, but these computer programs could be used for something else - something recreational. There is a group of hunting enthusiasts who believe that fleet management systems could be used to track potential game.

"One of the most frustrating parts about hunting is the wait", said Robin Hunter, a hunting enthusiast for the past 30 years. "Sometimes you could sit out in the cold and rain for hours and not find anything to hunt. I think there are better ways to approach hunting."

Robin Hunter has come up with the belief that if recreational park users place tracking devices on wildlife they would be able to hunt them when the season came around. These tracking devices would beam the location of the animal to a satellite and the hunters could find the animals using tablets, smartphones and laptops.

"Using this system we'd never have to spend days just waiting for an animal to come by", said Hunter. "We would be able to pick a spot based off of the GPS unit and the fleet tracking system. When the spot is picked we could then just sit back and wait."

Not all hunting enthusiasts are thrilled about this new style of hunting. Many believe that it takes the fun out of the sport.

"The whole point of hunting is the time that you sit and wait", said Danny Smith, a hunter for the past 10 years. "That's the time you sit and bond with friends and really get to share stories. If you automatically know where the animals are you won't be able to bond over the time you spend waiting."

Danny Smith believes that this new tech-savvy way of hunting could lead to a whole new branch of hunters. There would be the old school hunters who sit around and wait, and new school hunters who use this tracking system known as fleet management software.

"I don't believe using the tracking system is bad or wrong", said Smith. "I understand why people would want to use it and really hope it brings people to the sport of hunting. However, I could never picture myself using it and really think that there will be two types of hunters - those that use it and those that don't. We'll just have to see what the future holds for hunting with this new development."
