hangzhou, China (prHWY.com) November 10, 2012 - A country jacket can make your time spent in the great outdoors much more enjoyable, as you can be warmer, drier and generally able to deal with what ever the elements offer.

Here's what you need to think about when choosing a country jacket for use whilst hunting, walking or generally exploring the countryside.

1. Look for material that will meet your needs, if you choose a tweed jacket, it will look smart, and last, however if you know that you're going to be out in all weathers, or fishing, perhaps a tweed jacket isn't the right sort fro you.

2. You might want a waterproof jacket to wear in the countryside. This will mean that you'll be protected no matter what the weather's like.

3. You'll want to make sure that your jacket is durable, if you intend to do any hunting, or outdoor activity. Being outdoors in the country is very different to being outdoors in the city.

4. If you're going to be hunting, or fishing, or need to carry things with you, then you'll want to make sure that your jacket has suitable pockets. Try accessing and closing your pockets with gloves on, so that you know whether you'll be able to use your pockets whilst you're out in the field. Try zipping it up with gloves on too.

5. Another important consideration for a country jacket, is warmth. Check for warm collars and hoods, and that there are no places where the wind can get through it and cool you down. You might want to make sure that you can also get several layers on under your Woolrichjacket, for when it is really cold.

6. Once you've found a jacket, make sure that it is comfortable, and that it offers you enough flexibility and freedom of movement. You don't want to be outdoors in bad weather, and find that you can hardly move your arms.

7. Your jacket will need to last you for many years, so make sure that it's hard wearing and has protection in all the right places. The zip will need to be strong, and the material will need to be strong to resist bad weather and the thorns and other foliage you'll encounter whilst hunting.

8. Perhaps you have a brand in mind already, and you know that their products fit you well, and do the job as well as you'd hoped for. Even so, it's still worth trying lots of different brands and products so that you know you are getting exactly what you need.

9. If you choose wisely, or are not too discriminate, you might be able to wear your country jacket in the city, or off the field too. You'll probably want to make sure that the colours you choose are in keeping with the country side, so that if you are fishing or hunting, you won't frighten away your game.

10. The cost shouldn't really be the deciding factor when choosing a country jacket. You'll know whether the one you're considering represents the sort of value for money you're looking for. If you want a jacket that's going to keep you warm and dry, week in, week out, and be suitable for hunting in, then you will probably realise that buying the cheapest jacket isn't going to represent value for money.
