Pippa Middleton dons four dresses to promote new book

San Francisco, CA (prHWY.com) November 1, 2012 - San Francisco, CA- The sister of British royal Kate Middleton is promoting her new book.

Pippa Middleton, the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, wrote Celebrate: A Year of British Festivities for Families and Friends. The party-planning guide is her first published book.

On a recent promotional outing, Middleton wore four different outfits that cost a total of 2,959 British pounds ($4,117). By comparison, the advance on her book was reported to be and estimated $643,000.

Media photographers found her at Fulham book store in a plum-colored dress designed by Roksanda Illincic. Middleton changed into an embellished little black dress by Markus Lupfer and played hostess to a Halloween party for children at the store. Then she made another change. This time a sleeveless Stella McCartney dress with tweed panels, before leaving to meet family and friends.

"It's incredibly exciting and I feel really lucky to be in this position to publish a book, so that's great," Middleton said, according to the Mail Online. "It has been a crazy couple of years since my sister's wedding, but it's had its upsides and downsides. I just feel really fortunate to be able to build a career as a writer."

At an earlier signing at Foyles bookstore, she had on another dress, with long sleeves and an abstract Paper London panel.

Middleton's book has earned mixed reviews. Some have accused her of taking advantage of her links to royalty. Others expect her sister's fame to drive book sales, possibly even making it a bestseller for Christmas.

A photographer who worked on Middleton's guide described her as shy, calling her the "sweetest, kindest girl."

David Loftus said: "She's doing her best in very difficult surroundings, really. She's expecting to be criticized, she doesn't deserve it, she works incredibly hard."

Middleton is not oblivious to the effect of her sister's fame on her guide, but she insists "I've enjoyed every minute of it."

She said the book is a comprehensive guide to entertaining at home based on her experience in her family business.
