USA, AL (prHWY.com) October 24, 2012 - USA, Oct 24, 2012 - First-time knitters and those new to the craft often start with a pattern like the garter stitch scarf. This simple pattern is quite basic in that is requires only the knit stitch. The end result, however, has a more complicated looking ribbed design and is an attractive fashion accessory that makes an ideal gift for loved ones.

Knitting Patterns - Knit or crochet fingerless gloves are the most colorful with a wide range of patterns and designs. They also provide good warmth and are very comfortable to wear. Many different types of wool can be used and the knitting or crocheting can produce many unique and creative designs. Let's take a look at the different kinds of wool that can be used for fingerless knit gloves.

Slide the left needle through the new stitch and remove the right needle. Pull the yarn gently to make the stitch snug. That's your first stitch, casting on. Continue making cast-on stitches until you have the number of loops you want to work with. If you are just beginning, practice your stitches on just a few loops.

Needles & Accessories - Now you can move on to the knit stitch. You should have your cast-on stitches on the needle in your left hand and an empty needle in your right. Put the tip of the right needle through the first stitch on the left going under from front to back. The needles should form an X. Then use your right forefinger to bring a strand of yarn under and over the right needle, leaving the yarn in between the two needles. Pull that yarn strand down with your right needle and pull it through the same stitch you've been working on. Next slip the stitch off the left needle and bring it on to the right.

Yarn made from these types of fiber can be worn next to the skin with very little discomfort in the way of scratchiness... unless one is allergic to wool. The very finest and softest Merino is called Cashwool. It is as soft as cashmere. On the other end of the spectrum is very coarse, thick fiber used in making felt and rugs. All the rest in between types range in softness and are what makes up the bulk of knitting yarns.
