Humans to be Replaced with Intelligent Project Portfolio Management Software
The industrial age all but eliminated people working in the factories. People were quickly replaced with machines and conveyer belts that could do twice the work in half the time and for less money.

"Many of the same jobs people used to do in the office are being done by computers now", explained a technological analyst. "For example, people used to hand type out letters. Now they can use voice recognition software to type out the letters. The next place to see change is the project management area of offices."
The project management area of offices is usually run by a project manager. This project manager oversees all the ongoing projects, directs employees on how they can best work on the project, and just makes sure things are running smoothly. While it might seem as if this position is one that needs a human, a new software program known as a project portfolio management software program may change that.
"What we're trying to do is make this project portfolio management software program work with robots", explained the technological analyst. "This would then allow the robot to work with the employees. It would oversee things and alert people when there is a problem with the projects."
The tough part of making this dream a reality is getting the communication between robot and software program just right. There has to be some way that the robot would know that there is potential danger occurring on the projects. It would then be able to alert people to the problems.
"The real tough part is getting a robot to do the job of a human", explained the technological analyst. "Robots cannot think like humans, so we have to program them to know when there is something happening that needs attention. The key is figuring out the pattern so we can create the codes for the robots."
Currently, the project between robots and this type of software program is still in beta mode. However, the technological analyst believes that it could just be a number of years before project managers are a thing of the past.
"I foresee instead of 10 project managers on a major project there might be one or two and they work with the robot", said the analyst. "But that is a number of years away. Right now, we're just testing the theory."
