Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) October 16, 2012 - Many decades ago, Hollywood films used to be stores in canisters and places in old warehouses. While this might have seemed like a great idea at the time, it unfortunately had disastrous outcomes. Most of the old, classic films from some of the first live-action films became lost or destroyed due to a variety of factors.

"Unfortunately, the old classic films weren't preserved as well as we would have liked", explained film historian, Jim Thomas. "Some of these films were lost in fires, some just disappeared. It would be an honor to have some of these films, as we know very little about them but they appear to be lost."

These classic Hollywood films were a thing of fiction until Howard Travis started to organize some of the old Hollywood warehouses. Over 3,000 Hollywood warehouses are sitting around in the same condition that they were left. It was up to Howard Travis to clean the warehouses, organize the warehouses and put all inventory on a warehouse management software program.

"I felt that by putting all the warehouses on a warehouse management software program that I would be restoring old Hollywood", explained Howard Travis. "It was a dirty and very time consuming job, but someone had to do it. I just love that type of work so it fell to me."

While updating the warehouse inventory and placing it in the warehouse management software program, Howard Travis came upon a great discovery. He discovered some of the lost Hollywood films that historians believed to be lost for good.

"There was this canister that was just sitting in the back corner", explained Travis. "I wasn't sure what it was. It wasn't marked on any inventory sheet and I didn't really want to disturb it in case it was valuable. I'm glad I did though."

Howard Travis discovered inside the canister over 30 films that historians believed to have been lost in a warehouse fire. The films date back to some of the first live action movies every filmed.

"We believed these films were lost for good", said Holly Manners, a Hollywood film historian. "I can't believe these were found just lying around. I guess in a way we can thank the warehouse management software program for helping us find them."

The National Film Association plans on cleaning up the films and showing them at a special gala. The gala will feature all the films and honor Howards Travis for finding them.
