Hong Kong, Hong Kong (prHWY.com) October 15, 2012 - The first Munsel Thangka School of art & workshop was established in Kathmandu, Nepal 2008. The purpose of making this workshop at the beginning are inspired by H.E Rabjam Rinpoche, principal of Tsering Art School, the top Thangka Painting School in the world, the establisher, Kim Chong was graduated. Which is to preserve the rarest traditional among the five linage of Thangka paintings - Karma Gardi tradition.

Karma Gardi originated from karma Kagyu tradition. It is formed for its exquisite details, transparent hues and spacious landscapes. Combining the best of the three cultures, the Indian tradition body measurements, Chinese tradition landscape painting and Tibetan style of coloring and shading. The color was restricted in only seven colors, so that the whole painting will be highly harmonize and comfort for viewing in long term of time. It is differ from mass produce business Thangka, which form by complicate color, composition to cover the rough design and bad proportion of the main deities.

Our aim is to produce only the purest and finest Karma Gardi paintings, which follow strictly to the Buddha text. Thangka painting is not only a piece of art, but a sacred art that can have real benefit on Buddhist practitioner in meditation or simply gain peace in mind. Munsel workshop have taken four years of observation finding the best Thangka artists, who not only excellent in drawing, but an remarkable teacher with patience.

Munsel School makes sure that all the students must follow strictly to the rules of the traditional through Buddhism theories. All the teaching will abide ancient methods, in order to develop accomplishment in both mentally and physically status. The School in Nepal has successfully trained wonderful artists from all around the world, including some nuns from Thrangu Monastery, and some Himalayan children.

Munsel is the first Thangka painting school in Hong Kong, in a developed city. Munsel wish this wonderful culture with so many blessings will be also be descendable in hong kong.
