Google Updates Chrome Dev Channel to 11.0.696.14 and Fixes Bugs

Recently, Google updated the Chrome Dev channel to 11.0.696.14.

Albuquerque, NM (prHWY.com) March 21, 2011 - Albuquerque, NM, United States - Recently, Google updated the Chrome developer preview (Dev) channel to 11.0.696.14. The update mitigates five security flaws associated with GPU process, restore infobar, application context menu, stack signature and SPDY. The update applies to Macintosh, Linux, Windows and Chrome platforms. The flaw associated with GPU process allows about:gpu to launch the GPU process, even when it is blocked by the software rendering list. Another bug allows restore infobar to open each time an application starts Chrome. A security flaw displays the application context menu, even after an extension is uninstalled. The context menu causes browser crash, when an option is selected. The bug associated with SPDY related check issue, which causes browser to exit without displaying any error message. SPDY, pronounced "SPeeDy" is an application layer protocol, used for transporting content over the web with minimal latency.

The update comes just two days after Google updated Dev channel to 11.0.696.12, which fixed 12 bugs. One of the vulnerabilities caused New York Times Chrome application to crash on the Chrome Dev channel. The update mitigates another flaw, which caused Sync login dlg to truncate. Security professionals addressed an issue, which caused bookmark focus to stay, even when the mouse pointer is moved away from the bookmark. When users hover over a link, it should display the target URL, which was not displayed. Another issue caused tooltips to persist for too long and appear at random place on a webpage. The updated channel resolves both the issues. The update also resolves an issue in the incognito session, which did not reflect changes made in the content settings in the current session. When users apply a new theme, the same should reflect in the new tab page. However, some users reported that changes were not reflected in the new tab page. Another issue caused fixed download requests. The update fixes both the issues. The update fixes an issue with the sync auto fill settings, which caused Chrome to lockup on form submit. Dev channel 11.0.696.12 also fixes flaws associated with stack signature and changes in content settings, which caused the browser to crash.

Dev channel allows the developer to test new ideas to bring improvements in the browser. Developers are required to come up with new versions with improved and innovative features.
