Long Beach, CA - March 03, 2011 - A California author is one of 70 writers out of a starting field of 700 to advance to the next round of The Next Top Self-Help Author competition on Feb. 28.
Author, makeup artist and speaker Kenetia Lee moved ahead in the competition with her book Fearless Beauty: A Woman's Guide to Living Bold, Beautiful & Free. Just 25 authors will advance to the third round. The winner's book will be published by Conari Press as well as a speaking engagement at one of the largest conferences in the country, Celebrate Your Life.
"I am excited to be in the top 10 percent," said Lee. "Women are really responding to this message despite the rise in plastic surgeries and the anti-aging boom I believe women are wanting a deeper connection with themselves one that cosmetics and plastic surgery alone can't deliver. There is still an opportunity to vote in the second round so visit http://www.vote4k.com to help put the message of Fearless Beauty out in the world."
Fearless Beauty draws on her extensive personal experiences in the entertainment and beauty industries as well as her own spiritual journey to help liberate women from their constraints and judgments around their appearance and self expression. Going far beyond the usual look-good, feel-good guides that preach a quick fix of our physical appearance, this book digs deeper to cause a shift in the way we feel about who we are and how we express that out in the world.
Although the effect is profound, Lee makes this simple to achieve by anchoring the message around four simple principles: Awareness, Acceptance, Forgiveness and Celebration. The transparency of her personal struggles and spiritual ascension allow for a real understanding of these principles and their significance in everyday life.
Lee has built her career as a highly sought after Red Carpet Makeup artist, a dynamic public speaker and author. Her talent as a Hollywood makeup artist keeps her working. She can be found as highly coveted red-carpet events including the Academy Awards, Young Hollywood Awards, Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and Miss Universe pageants, to name a few. She earned a bachelor's degree in Communications from, Elmhurst College, trained to be a makeup artist at Empire Academy of Makeup in Costa Mesa, Calif., and has completed extensive transformational and leadership courses at a number of institutes over the past 11 years.
