Southeastern Massachusetts:
Stonehaven Farm, Westport
Twenty sheep, thirty-five chickens, and ten ducks. Not only can you spend some quality time with Stonehaven Farm's many animals, this remarkable spot along the Westport River offers rolling hills and extensive gardens. Guests are encouraged to chip in on animal chores like collecting eggs and gardening.
Central Massachusetts:
Blue Heron Farm, Charlemont
Located two hours from Boston, Blue Heron Farm offers 140-acres of organic farmland that has been continuously operated since 1797. A large herd of Boer goats and Norwegian Fjord horses greet visitors who stay on the property. Guest houses of various sizes are finished with full kitchens and other amenities. Visitors to Blue Heron Farm can try their hand at milking a goat, grooming horses, picking up bales of hay, leading animals to and from pastures, and the like.
Hartman's Herb Farm, Barre
Featuring five guest rooms, 14 greenhouses, a dining room that can accommodate 150 people, a gift shop, and display gardens, Hartman's Herb Farm offers guests a comforting retreat. Its Girl's Getaway Weekend package features an herbal gourmet dinner, accommodation, full breakfast, tea, and crafting.
Warfield House Inn at Valley View Farm, Charlemont
The Warfield House Inn is a magnificent bed and breakfast with two guesthouses, a special event and wedding facility, and an on-site restaurant that features its own grass-fed beef. Valley View Farm entertains guests with barnyard tours, llama treks, picnics, gardening clinics, and horse-drawn wagon rides.
Western Massachusetts:
The Cottage at Holiday Brook Farm, Dalton
The Cottage at Holiday Brook Farm is located in the heart of a working farm and surrounded by miles of wooded trails. The farm produces hay, compost, maple syrup, and firewood. Also on-site is an organic vegetable Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and farm stand, horse boarding and lessons, and a daffodil bulb & fern production operation.
Delta Organic Farm Bed and Breakfast, Amherst
A certified organic farm, Delta Organic Farm Bed and Breakfast grows organic strawberries, asparagus, rhubarb, garlic, basil, squash, onions, beets, carrots, and several varieties of tomatoes. The Bed and Breakfast caters to the environmentally concerned lodger, featuring solid wood or sealed furnishings, 100 percent cotton linens and bedding, air and water filtration, and hypo-allergenic personal care and cleaning agents.
Kenburn Orchards, Shelburne
Surrounded by 150-acres of farmland, Kenburn Orchards offers three distinctive guest rooms. Visitors are encouraged to explore the grounds, where Christmas trees, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and lingonberries are grown. Breakfast is served daily and features fresh-baked breads, homemade granola, and seasonal fruit.
The Inn at Sweet Water Farm, Great Barrington
The Inn at Sweet Water Farm offers a tranquil escape and a foodie's paradise. The rooms, each with a private bath, feature luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets and feather comforters. Breakfast, which is included in your stay, is prepared with locally sourced products. The Inn also raises chickens for eggs and rabbits for meat, which often turn up on the Inn's breakfast menu.
The Guest House at Field Farm, Williamstown
Located at the foot of Mt. Greylock, The Guest House was designed and built for avid modern art collectors who blended artwork and modern furnishings with the area's natural beauty. Situated in the middle of Field Farm, 316-acres of conserved land with four miles of trails, The Guest House offers access to cropland, pastures, mixed forest, marshes, and a stream and pond.
