New York City, NY (prHWY.com) August 18, 2012 - Over last annual quarters, UK businesses have displayed a new inclination to repay the debts that they accumulated over the period earlier and earlier - and, whats even better is that this trend seems to have carried on for the third sequential quarter.

This tendency was quickly noted by Experian and shows that the process of paying off debts is two days quicker for UK businesses, resulting in an average debt payment time of 23.3 days.

The largest and most impressive reductions in debt payment period were seen to have been accomplished by the larger organisations; however, seeing as they usually have complex supply chains and don't use cheap accountants, these companies often tend to make their debt payments later than SMEs are able to do. Indeed, Max Firth, UK managing director for Experian's business information services, has noted that there is "only so much improvement that can take place among these [larger] firms", adding that the "very nature of the way large businesses are structured ... makes it impossible for them to pay as fast as their smaller more flexible counterparts".

However, Firth also declared that "It is vital that smaller firms think about their collection strategies, and take on board some of the strategies employed by their larger counterparts to help ensure they get paid on time".
