WellWave - A New Therapy From PhysioPod - Focused Extracorporal Shockwave Therapy - Gentle Therapy for Chronic Pain
In cooperation with Richard Wolf GmbH and PHYSIOMED ELEKTROMEDIZIN AG, PhysioPod UK is now very happy to offer, with immediate availability, the shockwave therapy device WellWave. Richard Wolf has been one of the innovators in medical technology

Shockwave energy is generated by several hundred piezoceramic crystals mounted in an applicator. The crystals are arranged as a mosaic and are precisely aligned with the therapy focus. When excited by a high-voltage pulse, the piezoceramic elements expand briefly along their axis by a few micrometers, creating a shockwave. A characteristic of piezoelectric shockwaves is that they can be precisely focused to achieve their maximum efficacy at the point of focus of the therapy. The large diameter and concomitant large aperture angle of the applicators ensure that the energy density on the skin surface is slow, consequently minimizing pain on it. Shockwave therapy is successfully used for high efficient, non-surgical treatment of chronical painful conditions of the musculoskeletal system. One large treatment area is the therapy of myofascial pain syndrome, injury to muscle, trigger points and acute and chronic sports injuries.
The heart of the WellWave is the ergonomic planar therapy source. As a powerful system for pain therapy, it significantly expands the range of application in cases of myofascial pain syndrome:
Cervical spine
Upper extremities
Pectoral girdle
Hip region
Thoracic and lumbar spine
Lower extremities
Thanks to the wide range of applications of shock wave therapy, the WellWave is an excellent addition to any modern, progressive practice.
True focused shockwaves based on piezoelectric technology
Precise treatment at point of focus
Penetration depth defined by exchangeable gel pads
Immediate therapy start through multifunction operator control and display unit
Controlled and painless energy application with 20 intensity levels
Compact ergonomic therapy source
Radial shockwave therapy (RSWT) or, more accurately, pressure wave therapy (not creating a focus volume) differs from other shockwave technologies in several major aspects. Indeed, the very waveform produced by radial technology differs noticeably from true shockwaves and its effective treatment depth is superficial. Radial pressure waves are slower, less intense, elongated, and more sinusoidal in appearance. True focused shockwaves allow for a precise treatment exactly at the point of focus, are very short and very intense.
PHYSIOMED supports piezo shockwave technology because they consider this to be one of the most precise, effective and economic means of generating shockwaves. In their opinion, piezoelectric shockwaves represent the benchmark of shockwave technology for therapy.
WellWave provides focused extracorporal shockwave therapy. The device is controlled from the top panel of the multifunction operator control and display unit. This way all device parameters can be set and monitored with precision. The F7 G3 therapy source is for focused applications. The penetration depth is defined using exchangeable gel pads of different thicknesses. Energy of the pressure pulses can be adjusted in 20 intensity levels. Pulse frequency can be varied from 1-8 Hz. High pulse frequencies may help to minimize treatment times.
