Property Trading - What drives the property market?
So what is it that drives the property market? Paul Ribbons is an expert in Property Trading and reports that there are three aspects that drive the property market.

First, supply and demand.
Currently in certain areas there is a very short supply and this creates a bubble.
In many parts of the country the property market is pretty much stagnant and the Olympics will not have a bearing on things.
Second, it's the availability of affordable, obtainable mortgages.
The ability to obtain a mortgage is still very tough and a large deposit is required and whilst this continues the market is very vulnerable.
This is the most artificial market I have ever seen throughout 26 years in the property business.
Third, sentiment and confidence play a big part in driving the property market.
In the London area people are very optimistic and happiness I'm sure will play a part especially if Team GB start to win a few Gold Medals. But this does not take away peoples' fears on losing their jobs and it will have a negative effect on their buying decisions. Also as the Olympics come to a close the big contracts dry up and this will cause more unemployment.
Unfortunately, happiness could be temporary.
