DC, WA (prHWY.com) July 5, 2012 - 5 July 2012, USA (Zeepharmacy.com): As per a recent clinical study it has been proved that women undergoing menopause at an early stage of around 46 years of age is twice at risk of acquiring heart attack or stroke than the women who hit that phase later.
The current findings focus on the miscellaneous group of American women and the results obtained are in accordance with that reported by some previous studies in this same area of research.
The data were collected by the surveying the health of around 2,509 women which included around 641 black, 550 Hispanic and 331 Chinese women.
Around 700 of the overall women experienced early menopause (that is before 40 years of age) and this included women undergoing menopause naturally as well as those who underwent hysterectomy (surgical removal of the uterus), which resulted in early menopause.
Of the overall women enrolled in the study, none of them had a history or suffered from cardiovascular complications and the study was conducted for an average of five years and observed for women afflicting with heart attack and stroke in that span of time.
The results showed that around 3.3% of early menopausal women and around 1.5% of the other group suffered from a heart attack or underwent death from cardiac arrest.
Whereas, 2.6% of the early menopausal women experienced stroke during the span of the study as compared to that of 1% of women from the other group experiencing menopause at the later stage of life.

Dr. Melissa Wellons, the main author of the investigative study said that the women undergoing menopause before the age of 46 years should bear in mind that they are at a higher risk of experiencing heart complications such as stroke or heart attack.
She also advised such women to get a routine checkup of various heart risk factors such as hypertension, cholesterol, etc.
