New York, NY (prHWY.com) June 13, 2012 - NewYork, NY - For years non-traditional students who could not attend campus based institutions were enchanted with the convenience and flexibility of online degrees for advancing their career. Yet they dared not venture near them for fear of fire spitting rejection from hiring managers. The good news is that the dragons have stopped spitting fire and are now willingly embracing online degree grads.

An infographic compiled from various studies and reports by www.careerwithonlinedegrees.com revealed that employers are now starting to not only accept online degrees as valid and credible but are also hiring online grads; one study revealed that 79% out of all the interviewed hiring manager had hired at least one online degree grad in the last year alone! Likewise 83% of CEO's considered online degrees as credible as campus based degrees. That's comforting news for online grads.

Online learning is not a new phenomenon. Our economy is definitely benefiting from the boom in online learning. This $6.5 billion industry in 2003 ballooned to $27.1 billion and is expected to expand even more in the future.

Almost 40% of students these days work full time and nearly 30% have dependents to take care of. Other key findings in the infographic include a breakdown of the online education student population:

* *The average age of online students is 34 years.
* *2/3 rd of all distance learners are working adults.
* *81% are employed full time.
* *53% of online students are female.

Just a quick look at the above facts and figures shows who benefits most from distance learning--working men and women who would like a career change or who want to advance in their career and people who can't commute to college due to family or professional responsibilities.
For many of them online education is the only way to pursue a degree and advance in their careers. Online education provides convenience (no need to commute to campus), flexibility (student's get to choose their hours) and accessibility (anyone with a laptop and an internet connection can pursue online education). Several other benefits of online education were also highlighted in the infographic.

With credible and established brick and mortar institutions like Harvard, MIT and Boston University enthusiastically embracing online education, employers who were previously reluctant to hire online grads due to doubts about the legitimacy and accreditation of their degrees are shedding previous notions and opening their doors to online grads. Online grads can now toss up their graduate caps with as much pride as any other graduate.
