Calgary, Canada (prHWY.com) May 18, 2010 - There's a new website for travelers hoping to discover Canada's hidden treasures. Scenic Travel Canada seeks to uncover unique Canadian adventures and attractions, those off-the-beaten-path gems that aren't particularly well-known.

"Canada is a huge country, blessed with many incredible, unique and scenic attractions. Tourists are familiar with the more famous places, but there are also lots of exciting adventures in the lesser-known spots that are well worth a visit," comments Greg Lynch, founder of the Scenic Travel Canada website and a traveling enthusiast. He adds, "Locals and travelers who have been to the area can contribute insider tips that can turn an ordinary trip into an extraordinary one." By venturing onto the secondary highways and back roads, travelers can find beautiful hikes, lakes, viewpoints, and other attractions that may otherwise go unnoticed.

While Scenic Travel Canada will also offer information on popular destinations and attractions, the focus will be primarily on the lesser-known places. For example, there are extended hikes in Kananaskis, just outside of Calgary, that lead to clear mountain lakes straddling the Alberta/BC border. There's also Bridal Veil Falls in Kagawong on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, where visitors can venture behind the waterfall to cool off on hot summer days, while viewing the forest through a misty veil.

With such a variety of things to see and do across the country, Scenic Travel Canada aims to highlight the natural scenic jewels that are often popular with locals but easily missed while touring the more famous mainstream attractions. Memorable adventures can be found just by leaving the main roads and exploring the many towns, villages, parks and trails that cover the vast Canadian landscape. Each story is accompanied by a combination of photos, videos, and maps to help visitors find their way as they discover (or re-discover) Canada.
