Irvine, CA (prHWY.com) May 31, 2012 - If we were to conduct a nationwide survey of the most hated words in the English vocabulary, we are willing to bet 'Taxes' and 'Tax Preparation' would be at the top of the list. On the other end of the spectrum, the words 'Tax Accountant', more than likely would be a favourite.

It's a cold hard fact, most people hate tax time, and having to deal with tax preparation. Most of us want to save money, so we opt for becoming a temporary tax accountant once a year and do it ourselves. However, avoiding costly mistakes can really test ones nerves. They even have tax software which was supposed to make our lives at tax season a little easier. But, again if you don't understand or fumble through a 1040 instructions, you're stuck at the computer staring blankly into space.

Every year Americans try to tackle taxes head on not realizing that every year, new tax laws and new tax forms are needed. All in all, it's one big giant headache easily avoided by simply hiring an Orange County CPA. After all, imagine for one moment being audited by the IRS. In no way is that statement being dramatic, one tiny slip up, or perhaps an accidental mix-up of numbers can have an agent knocking on your door. They do after all have a job to do the same as you or a CPA.

To state it bluntly - taxes should be handled by a tax professional.

Finding the right tax preparer or Irvine Accountant isn't too difficult thanks to the Internet. But, what do you need to know before hiring a tax account?
What are some of the questions you should ask?

Here are some questions you can ask to aide you in finding a great Orange County CPA:

1. How many years have you been in the tax field? Or how many years have you been a CPA?
2. How much will preparing my taxes cost? Or can you give me a rough estimate?
3. What type of returns do you prepare?
4. Have any of your clients, past or present, ever been audited by the IRS?
5. What if I am audited?
6. Can I still claim an expense even though I lost the receipt or proof of that expense?
7. Are you available throughout the year if I need any additional help?
8. Is it possible for me to get an extension if I can't pay my taxes by April 15th?

These 8 questions are a great place to start. We must not forget that our taxes are highly classified personal information. We can't have just anyone claiming to know the ins and outs of a 1040 playing Russian roulette with our taxes. Finding a qualified Orange County Accountant willing to answer all of your questions, and displays the confidence to do so, will mean smooth sailing come this tax season.
