Cape Verdean government estimates contribution of fishing sector at 7-9 pct of GDP
Praia, Cape Verde, 13 Jan - The contribution of the fishing sector in 2011 to Cape Verde's gross Domestic Product (GDP) is estimated at between 7 and 10 percent, said the country's secretary of state for Marine Resources, Adalberto Vieira.
Developed markets around the world are predicting low positive figures for growth in 2012,
GDP around 7-9% is in line with China's forecast of their own GDP at 8.5%.

Cape Verde and China sign agreement for social housing loan
Praia, Cape Verde, 16 Feb - China has granted Cape Verde a US$51 million loan to build social housing per an agreement signed on Wednesday in Beijing, reports the Cape Verdean
With an annual interest rate of 2 percent and a maturity of 20 years, the loan follows the framework agreement signed in Praia last 4 January by the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, José Luís Rocha, and China's ambassador in Cape Verde, Li Chunhua.

Boa Vista News

British tourism group The Resort Group PLC plans to build six tourist resorts on Cape Verde's Boa Vista island over the next 12 to 15 years, increasing the number of rooms the groups has on the islands to 4,300, Cape Verdean weekly newspaper A Semana reported.
