NY, NY (prHWY.com) May 15, 2012 - Insomnia can actually affect anyone at some stage in their life. Well, you may think that the problems with lack of sleep could be an unavoidable and natural part of the stressful and hectic lifestyle. Possibly you view that caffeine or nicotine as the stimulants, which prevent you from having a good night's sleep. Well, sleep information overload can also be viewed as a powerful stimulant which might keep you awake.

Nowadays, in the modern age with 24 hour access to media, TV, communications, computers and the internet, we are almost bombarded with an endless cycle of information which varies in its degree of usefulness. The point I want to make here is simple - activities such as watching TV, using mobile phones, watching the news or surfing the worldwide web could act as the stimuli which hampers our ability to get to sleep. Sleep education is important and reading or watching TV before you actually go to bed might seem like relaxing activities however the reality is different and they actually stimulate the mind which adds to the problem of insomnia.

Also, watching a horror movie at night, reading a suspenseful thriller or reading a gripping page-turner in bed at night could be as harmful for a good night's sleep as guzzling down a few cups of coffee before you retire for the night. The point is one affects your body and the other stimulates your mind. So, what triggers sleep apnea? The light from TV and computer equipment suppresses melatonin, the hormone that helps us to fall asleep. Last but not the least, the electromagnetic field, emitted by your mobile phone can also disturb your body's sleep/wake cycle. I agree, it is indeed challenging for many of us to stop texting, emailing, surfing and reading and relaxing our minds before we go to bed. Sleep education suggest, withdrawing from "information stimulation" is indeed important as eliminating those cups of coffee or cigarettes, prior hitting the bed.
