Education minister Tota Singh unlikely to resign from cabinet?
Punjab agriculture minister Tota Singh, the second casuality in the Punjab cabinet on account of misusing the official vehicles during his stint as an education minister is unlikely to resign from cabinet.

His colleague Bibi Jagir Kaur had to resign from the cabinet after she was sentenced five years imprisonment by a special CBI court in Patiala. Singh's conviction has come as a major embarrassment to the Akali governemtn which is already facing criticism on account of Jagir Kaur incident.
As per the sources, Tota Singh who is currently on bail so that he can apply in the higher court against the verdict will probably continue after Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal sought legal opine from experts. According to the legal professionals, Singh can continue as MLA as he has been sentenced one year imprisonment for misuse of Punjab State Education Board vehicles. The Representation of the Peoples' Act-1951 says, one can continue as MLA provided he or she gets less than two-year imprisonment.
On the other hand, Punjab Congress has been demanding resignation of Tota Singh and chief minister Badal on account of inducting such ministers, claiming that 10 % of the cabinet is convicted on corruption and criminal matters.
Meanwhile, Tota Singh said that he had not been convicted for a horrendous crime. Maintaining himself as innocent, he claimed that he never misused the official vehicles for himself or even his family but by the officials of the Education Board to visit regional centre in Moga and the Adarsh schools which were opened by PSEB in the region, adding that, even the officials have recorded their statements in the court supporting his claims.
Tota Singh further added that he has even been acquitted from corruption charges and he had the reputation of honest minister.
It is worth mentioning that Singh's stint as an education minister was highly controversial on corruption charges and taking bribe in lieu of government jobs in the education board. However, the charges are yet to be proved.
