Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) May 2, 2012 - CMMS software is commonly used by companies to help manage inventory or diagnosis a potential problem in a certain area of business. While these types of software programs can dramatically help a business, the key to improving business operations is knowing how to read what the software program is saying. A company based out of Miami, Florida has developed a scavenger hunt type game to help businesses train employees on how to read and understand the CMMS software programs.

"We were noticing hundreds of companies were implementing CMMS software into their day to day business operations", said program developer Tommy Killjoy. "The problem was this software was essentially useless because employees didn't know how to read and understand what was being told to them by the programs."

The scavenger hunt game takes employees through a number of different situations and scenarios that could happen to their company. The game is uploaded to an existing CMMS software program and various indicators and information is sent to the employees. The employees must work out what they would do if the situation were happening in real life.

"The best way to learn is to put yourself in a situation that requires you to think", said business owner and fellow CMMS software user Doug Triallows. "This program requires my employees to problem solve, while forcing them to learn and understand the software programs that they will use on a daily basis."

Triallows holds three training sessions a year. Each session incorporates the scavenger hunt game, so employees are trained and ready to read and understand the CMMS software programs. All employees at Triallows' company are required to attend one of the training sessions, or face immediate dismissal from the company.

"When other employees told me about this scavenger hunt type game I thought they were joking", said new employee Fred Guggal. "I thought it was some like rite of passage they were doing on me. But no it was real, and surprisingly it was extremely helpful."

Killjoy estimates that over 80% of the businesses that incorporate this type of game into their training program see an improvement in business operations within the first year. Currently, 3,000 companies are using this program as part of their training program.

"This type of training software just sort of took off", said Killjoy. "One day we had 4 businesses using it, the next 1,000 and it just keeps going up from there. That is just proof that this really works."
