Close High School Graduation Class Takes Trip across the United States to Host Class Reunion

Class reunions are meant to be a time for people who spent several long years in a classroom together, to meet and catch up on each other's lives.

Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) May 2, 2012 - Class reunions are meant to be a time for people who spent several long years in a classroom together, to meet and catch up on each other's lives. A small high school graduating class out of Maryland is taking the concept of class reunions a step further, and making it a journey across the United States.

"We were a very small graduating class", explained class reunion planner Barry Watts. "So it is hard to believe that 90% of the students moved to all corners of the country when they graduated. This makes it tough to have class reunions, and it just isn't the same without everyone there."

Barry Watts has been trying to plan a class reunion for the past 5 years, but has been unable to get everyone together for the event. That is when he decided to take matters into his own hands. Barry Watts plans on creating a trip, fully funded with donations from past graduates, that takes them around the country picking up past graduates.

"The trip will start in Maryland and make its way over to California where we have one or two graduates", explained Barry Watts. "From there we will fly to Florida, and pick up several graduates down there. We will rent a bus, and travel up the coast stopping to pick up past graduates on the way until we reach Maryland."

The trip is thought to take a total of 16 days, and cost an estimated $25,000 to fund. Donations from past graduates and corporate sponsors will help the people get the funds they need to make this insane class reunion a reality. Several of the corporate sponsors have donated money just because of how unique the idea is.

"The trip is really a way for us to bond", said Holly Griggs. "It will be like those old high school field trips again, just 20 years later. It should be fun, and it will definitely be something that will create lasting memories."

The class reunion/vacation trip is scheduled for early June. All but one of the past graduates has expressed interest in this event.

"I can't believe one person just doesn't want to do it", said Watts. "But you always have one person. The thing is we just might arrive at his doorstep as a group on the way to Maryland. His home is on the way. I won't say names, but you know who you are and we'll be there!"
