Seattle, WI (prHWY.com) May 2, 2012 - For the past 40 years, the town of Little Broken River in Kansas has always had a population under 10,000. Each year the residents of Little Broken River are lucky to have one new resident born to the city. This year it appears that tradition might be broken.

"We're a relatively small town", explains longtime resident John Hannah. "We don't have many babies born here. In fact, it's practically a citywide day of celebrating when one of the women here gives birth. It just doesn't happen that often."

In recent weeks, the medical clinic in downtown Little Broken River has seen an increase in number of women who came in asking for pregnancy tests. The number rose from 1 pregnancy test issued a month, to over 100.

"At first we thought the first couple of people were just coming in for shoots and giggles", explained clinic nurse Tina Rivers. "When the tests came out positive for the first 20 people, we knew this wasn't no joke."

Of the 100 people who asked to have a pregnancy test run, 98 of them came out positive. These test results have left doctors and city historians shaking their head in wonder.

"We rarely have one child born in Little Broken River", said city historian Tommy Ulmer. "Now we're going to have 98 running around at one time. There had to be some sort of connection."

The small city put together a local investigative unit to discover the source of this recent baby boom. After weeks of researching the source of the baby fever was discovered.

It appears as if a local acupuncturist who specialized in administering acupuncture therapy designed for fertility was offering a sale. Residents of Little Broken River were excited about the new acupuncturist, who had just moved into an office in the city 3 months prior, and decided to try out his services.

"I wanted to see what this new-fangled acupuncture therapy was all about", said resident and soon-to-be new father Gavin Suthers. "The sale looked like a good deal and I took advantage of it. Well, it appears to work."

The investigative group showed that 97 out of the 98 couples who are expecting visited the acupuncturist in the past 3 months.

"I didn't think that my special would have this effect on the city", said the acupuncturist who wishes to remain nameless. "Though I guess this just goes to show skeptics that what I say I can do I can do!"
