If you're looking for a high-end smartphone, it may be worth giving the Sony Xperia S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus a look. Two giants in the world of smartphones have brought these interesting offerings to the market. So, how do they compare?
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a Google Phone, running the Google Android 4.0 operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich.
A range of the latest Android features are introduced via the Galaxy Nexus thanks to Ice Cream Sandwich. One of the biggest highlights here is a safety feature called Face Unlock, which means you can unlock your phone by looking at the 1.3 MP front facing camera. There's also Android Beam, a feature that enables you to easily share contacts, apps, websites and more between two NFC enabled Android devices.
On the subject of apps, many of the stock apps including calendar and camera have been improved in Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has a powerful 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM under the hood, and it has a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display. That means pictures will look great, and you can snap away happily with its 5 megapixel camera featuring LED flash.
The Sony Xperia S is also an Android phone, currently operating on Android 3.2 Gingerbread, although an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich is expected later in 2012.
The Xperia S is the most powerful Sony handset released to date, featuring a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. While there is no MicroSD slot, there is 32GB of internal storage.
It features Smart Watch, an evolution of the Sony Ericsson LiveView, designed to work in conjunction with the new range of Xperia NXT phones. It connects to your phone and then displays message notifications and emails.
There's an impressive 12 megapixel camera featuring Exmor R, which takes photos in 1.5 seconds from standby. This makes it more of a camera with a smartphone attached than the other way round.
Clove Technology stock the Sony Xperia S for £429.60 including VAT, with £30 of accessories thrown in for free.
Clove also stock the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for £498 including VAT.
