Bournemouth, United Kingdom (prHWY.com) April 27, 2012 - I came across an article in the Daily Mail this week that stated that the Cotswolds had more celebrities per acre in it than anywhere else in the country and it went on to say that it was the equivalent to the British Beverley Hills.

It got me thinking as to why the Cotswolds was such an attraction to British celebrities and we are not talking about the Z list reality TV personalities, but the biggest names in British TV, Film, Music, Fashion and Arts worlds including Jeremy Clarkson, Kate Winslet, Lilly Allen, Kate Moss and Damien Hirst.

The Cotswolds do provide some breath taking scenery with prime property, good walks and a real feel of the Great British countryside. Link this to great country gastro pubs and good boutique shopping in towns like Stow-on-the-Wold & Moreton-in-Marsh and those who want country life but with a fix of the London lifestyle certainly get their needs met.

The Cotswolds predominantly cover large parts of the counties of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire but they also include parts of Wiltshire and Somerset too. Whether from London to the South Cotswolds via the M4 or to the heart of the Cotswolds via the M40 they are accessible in under 2 hours.

It's not unusual for Londoners to crave a piece of the country life and this is the driver that led to the likes of Babbington House near Frome in Somerset to open and more recently Limewood in Lyndhurst the New Forest. Places that offer the luxury and service expected in London within a rural environment.

The Cotswolds may have thought that with the current economic climate the influx of celebrities and rich looking to buy their large million pound homes might stop, but not according to an article in the Country Life this week that says second homes are still in demand. It's not just that people want a large country retreat, there is now more demand for the country cottage as they are less maintenance and offer a cosiness that large houses don't offer. The Cotswolds with many cottages can expect to continue to be a popular destination for celebrities & London's wealthy alike.
