Raymond, ME (prHWY.com) April 6, 2012 - Camp Timanous was founded in 1895 as a coed summer camp in Connecticut and moved to the Sebago Lake Region of Maine in 1907. Timanous was converted over to an all-boys camp for ages 7-15 in 1917, and moved to it's current location on Panther Pond where it has flourished for the past 95 years. Having been owned by only two families during it's entire existence, the traditions and values that make a sleep away summer camp experience an integral part of a child's development have been preserved.

Timanous stresses the development of character through an active, outdoor, simple lifestyle and a positive approach to everything. Staff is the #1 factor to their success, with about 90% being former campers themselves. Good citizenship through courtesy, helpfulness, and respect are the hallmarks that make a Timanous summer a priceless investment in a boy's education.

Camp activities are well organized and structured, with a balance between an instructive and recreational approach to create a positive environment. All water and land sports are included with tuition, plus woodshop, crafts, extensive camping program and too many others to mention. For the camper that needs variety and a constant change of pace, there are many alternatives to regular daily routine.

Perhaps an actual parent's words describing how Camp Timanous has helped their son puts it best; "An all boys camp, staffed by adults with often decades of experience, and counselors themselves former campers, Timanous sets high expectations - for behavior, achievement, integrity - while offering boys independence, choice and responsibility."
