Panel Unveiled for £1m Engineering Prize

This year's Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering had had its panel revealed.

Solihull, NY (prHWY.com) March 8, 2012 - March 08, 2012 - This year's Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering had had its panel revealed. The award, which is funded by an endowment, is renowned as the equivalent to a "Nobel" for engineers.

The panel has been announced revealed and it's a 14 strong panel of experts from a wide variety of disciplines including and it includes TV physicist Professor Brian Cox. As the award is funded by an endowment it is awarded to the winner or winners of the competition biennially (once every two years). The entrants can either enter on their own: or they can enter in a group of up to three people maximum.

The entrants can be of any nationality and the awards competition has been designed to try and help to raise the profile of engineering. There has even been mention of the award being recognised alongside great awards like the Nobel Peace Prize.

The idea of the award is "to identify and celebrate an outstanding advance in engineering that has created significant benefit to humanity". The award is a part of a long standing tradition of using prizes to encourage and reward innovation.
