Europeans Constitute Three-Quarters of Tourists Visiting Egypt

Tourism is a strong pillar of the Egyptian Economy, and the industry witnesses a large number of European tourists arriving in the country, says RNCOS' latest research report.

Noida, India (prHWY.com) January 3, 2012 - For the Egyptian economy, tourism is the major source of foreign currency. In terms of tourist arrivals in Egypt, Europeans enjoy the biggest pie, followed by Arabs. European tourists accounted for over 75% of the total number of tourists who arrived in Egypt during 2010, with visitors from Russia, UK and Germany leading the list. The new research report, "Egypt Tourism Sector Analysis" by RNCOS, says that 14.8 Million visitors from all export destinations, including the US and Europe, arrived in Egypt in 2010.

In 2010, the tourism industry contributed 6% to the country's GDP and employed over 2.8 Million Egyptians. According to the report, international tourist arrivals in the country are expected to increase at a CAGR of 9.2% during 2011-2014.
