E-commerce spending has increased 15 per cent for the first 39 days of this year's festive holiday, and this looks set top continue over the coming years as businesses focus more online, with e-commerce design being more important than ever before. Businesses on the high street continue to struggle even as Christmas approaches rapidly, and so the future of shopping looks firmly set to be online.

Cyber Monday saw record sales online this year, and online sales have continued to hold strong over the following week. This is continuing right up to Christmas with many retailers adding in options for fast delivery on gifts.

New strategies continue to emerge with sites like Groupon and LivingSocial. These sites alone have raised another $176 million from private investors over the last few months.

Black Friday used to be the day for deals and value, now there's green Monday the following week - also known as cyber week. More deals have followed Black Friday, and consumers are continue to hunt for deals online as the hours count down to the big day.
